Angola is preparing to build a chancery in the city of Praia.
The Angolan government will proceed with the construction of a foreign ministry in Cape Verde. The decision was confirmed during the official visit of the Angolan Secretary of State, Osvaldo Varela, who also discussed the rescheduling of an economic forum between the two countries.
The Angolan government has confirmed plans to build a chancery in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde. The information was released by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Administration, Finance and Heritage, Osvaldo Varela, who has been on an official visit to the country since Thursday.
"There is a plot of land that the Cape Verdean government ceded to the Angolan government a few years ago for the construction of a chancery," explained the Angolan official after a meeting with the Cape Verdean President, José Maria Neves.
According to Varela, the trip to Cape Verde aims to address administrative and technical details to accelerate the construction process of the future diplomatic facilities.
During the visit, the Angolan Secretary of State will also seek to coordinate with Cape Verdean authorities a new date for the economic forum between the two countries, which was initially scheduled for this quarter. The event, which is expected to take place in Angola, will be rescheduled due to the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Angolan independence, scheduled for November.
On social media, President José Maria Neves reiterated "Cape Verde's commitment to continue strengthening ties with Angola, promoting increasingly dynamic cooperation based on shared values and a common vision of sustainable development and regional integration."
Strengthening bilateral relations between the two Portuguese-speaking countries remains a political and diplomatic priority, with expectations of new partnerships in the economic and institutional fields.
